Don'y you dare put a '/' in between Heavy Metal and Emo. There is a huge difference in the two and there are several cases of great heavy metal bands.

Here are some of the bands I tend to listen to each day with elements of Heavy Metal within them. Give them a shot and tell me that they don't have talent, especially compared to the many of the now popular bands out there. Mtv tends to spread a lot of popularity.

Pantera - Cemetary Gates; Floods; Cowboys From Hell.
Opeth - Pretty much anything, Progressive Metal is amazing.
Children of Bodom - Needled 24/7; Children of Bodom; Are you Dead Yet.
Dream Theater - Instrumedley; The Dance of Eternity; Metropolis; A Change in Seasons; Many more.

I've probably strayed completely off-topic, but I just can't stand it when someone decides to bash a certain type of music without giving it a chance at all.

Whee~ an edit!

First of all: Emo, Rap, R n B do deserve a topic. There are large fan bases for each of these styles, and discussion can easily be created within the community.

Metallica, Avenged Sevenfold, System of a Down, Ill Nino, good metal bands?

You have got to expand -_-

Decent, yes. Truely good? Hardly.

If you truely have listened to it at all, you wouldn't have posted this:

It shows that you havn't indulged yourself into the topic far enough to know what you're talking about.

Plus, you're not the only stalker on this forum.

Um im gonna have to cut in on this little fight and make some things strait.

Heavy metal is rock with extreme electric guitar and kick ass fast drums and what not. Basicly is rock on extreme speed...and its louder.

Emo music sings about depression, death, blood, and all the other things no one else wants to hear a band complain about.

They are in NO way alike. I dont care if you think they should both die but they are not alike at all.

Btw, NORMAL ROCK RULES, and some metal...heavy metal is a bit to much for me....no one answer my question about are they satanic or not

I guess I shouldn't have Hi-jacked this and turned it into a semi-argument. I'll be back to answering your question after I have a listen.

Edit - alright, that was incredibly boring to listen to o.o

Though the vocals may suggest that they are satanic, but I havn't focused enough to figure out exactly what they are saying to figure out whether they are truely satanic or not.

In many instances, it would seem that the singer was trying to kill someone. Not exactly satanic, but disturbing. Until the actual showing of worship towards the demon of the underworld actually lets itself loose, I can't tell.

Perhaps more research on the band would help.

If it has a melody, it's worth listening to. Anyone can scream. Anyone can hit a drum so that it breaks (the floor it's on, that is). Anyone can learn to play 3 chords and then rip then out over and over on a speaker that's got the bass turned up about 300x what it needs to be.

You want rock that's actual music? Listen to Tool. Listen to NIN.

... that is to say, I hate heavy metal, 'hardcore' rock, 98% of Goth music, 99.99% of emo music... I like to keep my ears intact, please. Fanks!

As for rock in general and it being 'Satanic' I believe we should all go with Bill Hicks on this one:

Quote:
They say rock 'n' roll is the devil's music. Well, let's say that it is; I've got news for you. Let's say that rock'n'roll is the devil's music and we know it for a fact to be the absolutely, unequivitely true.

Boy, at least he ****in' jams! Ha ha ha ha! Okay? Did you hear that correctly? If it's a choice between eternal hell and good tunes and eternal heaven and new kids on the ****in' block... I'm gonna be surfing on the lake of fire, rockin' out... high five at Satan every time I pass the mother****in' shore!
Man I hope some of you out there know who New Kids on the Block were...

I find that Nine Inch Nails seems to be full of..effects..not that great in my opinion.

Tool. Wonderful. No complaints, like them, but I don't love them.

Rock that's actual music? Neo-classical rock. Nothing beats perfect sweeps and arpeggios to create a masterpiece.

Yngwie Malmsteen, my personal favourite when it comes to neo-classical music, is a wonderful artist. Give him a shot if you havn't already.

Black Star - good song to start with.
